Optical Microscopy

The Optical Microscopy equipment available in E&T building room C164A is as follows:

Keyence VHX-7000 4K High Accuracy Digital Microscope

Keyence VHX-7000 4K High Accuracy Digital Microscope

The VHX-7000 fully-automated digital microscope system enables users to capture high-resolution images. The Optical Shadow Effect Mode features a combination of specially designed high-resolution lenses, a 4K CMOS, and high-performance lighting that enables minute surface details to be observed and analyzed. The seamless transition in magnification from 50x to 2500x using a motorized turret offers a simple observation environment. The 4K industrial digital microscope offers the highest level of automation and the best picture quality in the VHX Series.

Nikon Eclipse ME600 Microscope

Nikon Eclipse ME600 Microscope

Nikon Eclipse ME600 is an optical microscope equipped with four objective lenses, featuring both reflected (epi) and transmitted (dia) illumination systems. The microscope can be used in differential interference contrast (DIC) imaging, based on the contrast difference of the samples, and in dark field (DF) mode. With DIC and DF, it is possible to see details from optically transparent samples that are invisible in ordinary microscope images.

  • Observation Head: 3 Position Trinocular head
  • Eyepiece magnification:                 10x CFI type
  • Objective magnifications:             5x, 10x, 20x, 50x
  • 5-position nosepiece.
  • 100W Halogen Lamphouse

Nikon Epiphot 300 Inverted Metallurgical Microscope

Nikon Epiphot 300 Inverted Metallurgical Microscope

Nikon Epiphot 300 combines the CF Infinity Corrected Optical system, with operator comfort in mind and solid stability. An ideal optical system that combines Nikon's renowned CD Optics with Infinity Corrected design for even greater system flexibility. The lowered stage and the universal-joint stage handle which allows the stage to be moved by hand at a fixed position both contribute to smooth operation. The built-in interlocking aperture diaphragm which automatically adjusts during brightfield/darkfield changeover.

  • Observation Head: 2 Position binocular head
  • Eyepiece magnification:                 10x
  • Intermediate magnification:        0.8x, 1.0x, 1.25x, 1.50x
  • Objective magnifications:             5x, 10x, 20x, 50x, 100x
  • 100W Halogen Lamphouse
  • Camera: AmScope MU 1000 10MP USB 2.0 Color CMOS camera

Olympus BX51 Fluorescence Microscope

Olympus BX51 Fluorescence Microscope

The Olympus BX 51 Fluorescent Microscope is a versatile fluorescent microscope that has transmission, reflection, and metal halide light sources. The microscope also has a Nomarsky filter allowing for differential interference contrast (DIC) microscopy. The MPLFLN-BD lenses with semi-apochromatic (corrected for chromatic aberration) are specially designed for darkfield, brightfield, DIC, polarized light, and fluorescence microscopy.

  • Observation Head: 3 Position Trinocular head
