Cal State L.A. among nation’s top in awarding degrees to Hispanics

Output particularly strong in
public administration, protective services

California State University, Los Angeles continues to be among the highest ranked institutions in California in conferring the most bachelor’s degrees and master’s degrees to Hispanics. The University was ranked 11th nationally for both listings in the Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education’s Top 100” issue.

In a separate listing of academic programs, the “Top 100” print edition highlighted Cal State L.A. as the leader in awarding the most bachelor’s degrees to Hispanics in public administration nationally and in protective services statewide. Cal State L.A. was also listed as among the nation’s top ten in awarding bachelor’s degrees to Hispanics in education and Hispanic studies

This national listing of colleges and universities is derived from the U.S. Department of Education’s Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (2007-2008).

Cal State L.A. is a federally designated Hispanic-Serving Institution, with 53.1 percent of the University’s students identifying themselves as Hispanic.
