| Cal State L.A. Accounting Students Los Angeles, California - November 22, 1999 - Two teams of accounting students from California State University, Los Angeles recently won honorable mention awards at the 1999 Arthur Andersen Tax Challenge regional competition. The graduate team students were Patrick Borja (Montebello), Susan Chang (Diamond Bar), Max Grinberg (Los Angeles-90046), and Noriko Ichiki (San Marino). The undergraduate team included Marccio Azurdia (Los Angeles-90026), Sohan DeSilva (Pasadena), Jonathan Hand (San Gabriel), and Quyen Tran (West Covina). The Accounting Department Chair Cheryl A. Cruz said the Arthur Andersen Tax Challenge provides an opportunity for students to participate in a unique interscholastic competition. The nation's top accounting and tax programs enter one graduate and one undergraduate team consisting of four full-time students. Cruz noted, "In addition to gaining real-world experience, our students won scholarship awards for the school." Each team captured a $500 scholarship for the School of Business and Economics at Cal State L.A. The accounting team members were honored at an awards breakfast on November 12 at the University.
