Pat Brown Institute of Public Affairs Presents
Forum to Assess Election Results, Secession
and its Implications for the future of Los Angeles

Guests Include: L.A. City Councilwoman Wendy Greuel; Stewart Kwoh, Asian American Legal Center of Southern California; Richard Close, San Fernando Valley Independence Committee; and Gene La Pietra, Hollywood Vote

WHO:
Los Angeles City Councilwoman Wendy Greuel, Stewart Kwoh, president of the Asian American Legal Center for Southern California, and advocates of the San Fernando Valley and Hollywood secession efforts.

WHAT:
The Edmund G. “Pat” Brown Institute of Public Affairs at Cal State L.A. presents a dialogue between opponents and proponents of secession. The Forum, “Post-Election Thoughts on Secession,” will review secession efforts and provide an analysis of the Nov. 5th ballot results.

WHEN:
Thursday, November 7, 2002
9:30 AM – 12:00 PM

WHERE:
California State University, Los Angeles, 5151 State University Drive, Los Angeles – University-Student Union, Alhambra Room AB

WHY:
The secession issue is one that will continue beyond the November elections. In a less confrontational venue, Los Angeles residents, businesses, elected officials and policy makers will explore its impact on local government, services, and communities. We must ask: What are the ramifications of the voting results? Where do we go from here? Will there be other secession efforts?
