Cal State L.A. Senior Nicole Duncan
Named CCAA Women's Track and Field
Athlete of the Week

LOS ANGELES -- Cal State L.A. senior All-American Nicole Duncan (Kingston, Jamaica) has been named the California Collegiate Athletic Association Women’s Track and Field Athlete of the Week, it was announced this afternoon by the CCAA conference office.

Duncan easily won the 100 and 200 meter dash events at Saturday’s home CCAA meet. Her times in the 100 (11.3) and 200 (23.7) would have been automatic qualifiers for this spring’s NCAA Championships, were qualifying times permitted prior to March 1. Duncan also ran the leadoff leg on CSLA’s meet-winning women’s 4x400 meter relay team.

She heads to Boston, Mass., next weekend for the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships, where she is the defending long jump champion and defending runner-up in the 55 meter dash.

Duncan is the second Cal State L.A. athlete named CCAA Player of the Week in as many days, joining women’s basketball freshman Monica Tokoro, who was named that sport’s CCAA Player of the Week yesterday.
