Camerata:
The Los Angeles Symphonic Camerata, an organization of young, professional musicians, was established in 1997 through the cooperative efforts of the International Institute of Music Los Angeles and the Cal State L.A. College of Arts and Letters. A professional ensemble in residence at Cal State L.A., makes its performance home in the state-of-the-art Luckman Theatre. The Camerata provides a variety of experiences that enhance the prospects of its instrumentalists competing successfully for positions in major symphonic ensembles. Members of the Camerata have taken positions with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the New York Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, the American Symphony Orchestra, and other notable ensembles.

Altadena resident David Buck serves as music director and conductor of the L.A. Symphonic Camerata. He is a professor of music at Cal State L.A. Buck completed his Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance at the University of the Pacific in 1966, and obtained his M.M. and D.M.A. degrees at the University of Washington, where his principal mentors were Stanley Chapply in conducting and Emanuel Zetlin in violin. Recently, Buck spent several months in Germany studying with Daniel Barenboim, music director of the Chicago Symphony, in the Berlin State Opera, and as the guest of Wolfgang Wagner at the Bayreuth Festival.
