LOS ANGELES – Cal State L.A. junior Keara Norton (Lakewood, CA/Lakewood HS) took seventh place in the women’s long jump to earn her first career All-America honor as the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships got underway at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston. The Championships are being hosted by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).

Norton posted a career-best jump of 19’ 1 1/4”, more than five inches better than her previous season best of 18’ 8” and also well above her previous career-high of 18’ 9 3/4”from last year’s CCAA Conference Championships. Nebraska-Omaha junior Folouso Makinde won today’s event at 20’ 1/2”.

Also on Friday, Golden Eagle junior Terica Ned (Hemet, CA/Rancho Verde HS) advanced to the finals of both the 60 meter dash and 200 meter dash.

She also took fifth in the prelims of the 200 meter dash in a time of 24.54 seconds. Ashland’s Shami Vanhook posted the top 200 meter prelim time at 24.19.
