Congressional Gold Medalist, California Congresswoman to address Cal State L.A.’s Class of 2013
What: A two-day festivity filled with pride and celebrations, California State University, Los Angeles will confer more than 5,600 bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees during this year’s 66th Commencement June 14 and 15.
When: Friday, June 14, 2013, 5 p.m.
Conferring degrees to graduates in the Charter College of Education, the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology, and the College of Health and Human Services
Speaker: Terrence James Roberts, one of the Little Rock Nine, who in 1957 were the first African American students ever to attend classes at Little Rock Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. In 1999, the Little Rock Nine was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal by President Bill Clinton.

Speaker: Congresswoman, the Honorable Judy Chu is the first Chinese American woman elected to U.S. Congress. She begun serving in the U.S. House of Representatives for California’s 32nd district in July 2009. As of January 2013, Chu represents California’s 27th congressional district.
Where: Cal State L.A.’s University Athletic Stadium, at the southeast corner of the campus. The University is located at the Eastern Avenue exit, San Bernardino (I-10) freeway, at the interchange of the 10 and 710 freeways.
