CAL STATE L.A. INSTITUTE FOSTERS FUTURE EDUCATORS
Institute Seeks Students from the Los Angeles Area

Los Angeles, CA - June 26, 2000 -- The Cal State L.A. Charter School of Education Phi Delta Kappa Chapter is seeking students from the greater Los Angeles area to attend the sixth annual Future Educators Institute from Friday, July 28 - Sunday, July 30, 2000. The theme is "Preparing Tomorrows' Educators Today: Education in the 21st Century."

The Future Educators Institute is a unique and exciting summer program for 11th grade students throughout California who are interested in exploring careers in education. During the program, the 40 select students will live on the Cal State L.A. campus and participate in special classes, lectures and computer workshops.

The Institute will introduce students to the wide opportunities in education, problem solving and creativity-building skills, a chance to work with award-winning teachers, and the opportunity to meet students from other areas of California.

Past student participants include residents of Riverside, El Monte, Santa Ana, Duarte, Huntington Beach, Glendale, Covina, Downey and San Fernando Valley. Students from as far away as Lancaster, Sacramento and Tracy, California and Reno, Nevada, have also been enrolled in the program.

Phi Delta Kappa is a national fraternity dedicated to service, leadership and research in all areas of education. Cal State L.A. is located at the Eastern Avenue exit, San Bernardino (I-10) Freeway, at the interchange of the 10 and 710 Freeways.
