Cal State L.A. Presents a Talk About
the Bible's Encoded Predictions of Events

What & Who:
The Cal State L.A. Department of Mathematics and Computer Science presents a lecture entitled "Debunking the Bible Codes," by Dr. Barry Simon, chair of Mathematics at the California Institute of Technology.

When:
Wednesday, January 26, 2000, 3 p.m.

Where:
Cal State L.A. Math Dept. Conference Room, Simpson Tower 213. The University is located at the Eastern Avenue exit, San Bernardino (I-10) Freeway, at the interchange of the 10 and 710 Freeways. Public permit dispenser parking is available in Lot C, Lot G, or the top level of North Parking Structure II.

More:
This talk will be an updated version of a highly successful talk Dr. Simon gave at Caltech. Popularized by Drosnin's 1997 bestseller, The Bible Code, the theory is largely based on the work of an Israeli group that motivated Drosnin. The Bible codes proponents claim that the book of Genesis contains encoded information about events that took place long after Genesis was created. Dr. Simon will explain how the phenomenon can be entirely explained by understanding the wiggle room in the procedures.

Info:
Free to the public. For more information, call the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, (323) 343-2150.
