Dr. Abbott is knowledgeable about complex systems (including artificial life, agent-based modeling, evolutionary systems, and phenomena related to emergent properties of systems); philosophy of computing, collaborative Web-based systems, distributed software using telepresent agents and artificial intelligence (including logic programming and natural language processing); and software engineering (including system interfaces, fault tolerant systems, and system acquisition strategies). He has published a book on software engineering and research papers on a variety of software-related topics.
Dr. Pamula’s research interests are in fault-tolerant computing (analysis, modeling, and error recovery algorithms); and computer organization (including parallel architectures). He has published a book, Computer Organization and Assembly Language Programming. He has developed a Web-based software tool to interact with all current students and alumni.
