Reception begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Luckman Street of the Arts, followed by the University Convocation at 9 a.m. in the Luckman Theatre.

University Convocation is a recent tradition at Cal State L.A., created in 2013 to coincide with President William A. Covino’s first official address to the University.  This year the program will include new faculty introductions, the presentation of the Outstanding Lecturer, Outstanding Professors and President’s Distinguished Professor awards, and President Covino’s announcements and remarks on the 2015-16 year.

Elwira Piorun, Ido Tadmor (Engage / Rust): The two performances is a joint production of Elwira Piorun, Ido Tadmor and the British choreographer Rachel Erdos. Performances are images of two people forming a long-term relationship, who have been through a lot of storms, dilemmas, ups and downs. The ratio of the characters is based on a deep love and the special bond between them, but this does not mean that it is free from problems.

The iconic Ballet Folklórico de Mexico de Amalia Hernández returns to the Luckman with a highly-anticipated repertory performance! Amalia Hernández founded the Ballet Folklórico de México in 1952, having embarked at a very early age on a never-ending quest to rescue the dancing traditions of Mexico.
