Join us as local zinesters, activists and scholars discuss the art of creating zines as a means of voicing their politics and identities. Following the presentation, participants will have space and supplies to start creating their own personal zines.

It Was Rape is a documentary that gives human faces and voices to rape statistics, breaking through the silence, denial and victim blaming that allow sexual assaults to continue in the U.S., many of them unreported. The 2018 Conference on Chicano History, Historiography, and the Historical Novel commemorates the 50th anniversary of the founding of Chicano Studies at Cal State LA. The conference will feature speakers discussing such topics as the Chicano generation, the work of Chicano historian Mario T. García, and revolts of north and south in colonial and modern Mexico. There will also be a screening of the film, “The Rise and Fall of the Brown Buffalo,” followed by a roundtable discussion with director and producer Phillip Rodriguez and associate producer Ricardo López. Join us as we watch them debate current policies, practices and goals for the 2018-2019 academic year.
