Introduction

I started teaching at CSULA in the fall of 2008. I began my academic career with an undergraduate degree from Victoria University in Wellington, the capital of New Zealand. After that, I completed a Masters in Philosophy and History of Science at the London School of Economics, and then on to University of Wisconsin-Madison to do my Ph.D. My areas of specialization are moral and social/political philosophy. I also have a research specialization in classical Islamic philosophy.

Research Interests

In the past couple of years, my research has focused on various ethical and conceptual issues raised by political violence, especially terrorism, war, torture, and genocide. I am also interested in a number of issues related to ethics and international relations, political obligation, individual and collective moral responsibility, and classical Islamic philosophy, especially Islamic political thought.
