ACHE/HCE COLLEGE BOWL MS HCM TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS

I coach our victorious Cal State LA Teams in the Western Regional Healthcare Executives College Bowl Case Study Competition against 11 other Western States universities in Downtown Los Angeles, annually since 2011.

Our College Bowl Teams have won first prize in 2019 and placed within the top three in four of the preceding five years.  The judges are professional hospital administrators.  These executives have subsequently hired scores of our MS-HCM students into good health care management careers annually since 2011.

I remain actively involved with DHS/DPH by:  1) writing monthly articles for the DHS/DPH/DMH Managers Newsletter, their peer-reviewed journal; and 2) active involvement with the American Council of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), Healthcare Executives of Southern California (HCESC),  Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS), Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA), University Health System Consortium (UHC), and other professional organizations.

My future plans and advice for those who remain behind are detailed in the attached 2-page article, Parting Thoughts. This was published on March 31, 2010 in The Voice, the online journal by, for and about Los Angeles County Department of Pubic Healths 4,200 employees.
