INTRODUCTION

In 1999, I joined the faculty of the Division of Curriculum and Instruction of the Charter College of Education. As a member of the Division of Curriculum and Instruction, I taught courses in classroom management and social studies methods in the Single Subject and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential programs. In 2005, I joined the Educational Administration program in the Division of Appied and Advanced Studies in Education. In this capacity, I teach courses in educational and instructional leadership. Moreover, I coordinate the student recruitment and fieldwork activities of the program. Prior to joining the faculty of the Charter College, I served in Tennessee public schools as a high school social studies teacher, and elementary school assistant principal, and an assistant principal in a school for behaviorally challenged students. My university teaching experience prior to California State University, Los Angeles included positions at Volunteer State Community College and Lipscomb University. I hold a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a doctorate in Educational Administration from Tennessee State University. I live in Pasadena, CA with my wife and our two cats.

TEACHING INTERESTS

My teaching expertise is the area of school leadership and and its role in the development the school climate, environment and management.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

My research agenda is mainly focused in the area of school leadership and climate. As an extension of my work in this area, I have collaborated with Dr. John Shindler and Dr. Clint Taylor in creating the Western Alliance for the Study of School Climate.
