Event date and time
Rodriguez returns to the Luckman performing his classic hits and the songs that helped shape his fascinating life. Rodriguez began his music career in the '60s, but without any enthusiastic response, he was ultimately let go by his label and forced to work outside the music industry. Unbeknownst to him, and to the rest of the world, his songs were the inspiration for millions struggling against apartheid in South Africa where he was regarded as a superstar. With his newfound celebrity status, Rodriguez has finally found commercial success for the album he produced four decades ago.
Rodriguez will be joined by special guest, Vera Sola. A poet, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, Vera Sola has toured and recorded with a variety of artists, for a long while accompanying singer-songwriter Elvis Perkins on the road. She has in turn collaborated on film scores and provided original music for theater and performance art.
