Description

The American Chemical Society's National Chemistry Week is an annual event during the week of October 23 (10^23 -Avogadro’s number). This year, the theme is “Chemistry is Out of this World.” Programs are presented by the Chemistry and Biochemistry Club.

On day four, Laurie Barge, a research scientist at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, will be giving a lecture about self-organizing chemical systems, the emergence of life on early Earth, hydrothermal vents and mineral-organic chemistry, and investigating habitability on other worlds. A live demonstration with a hands-on activity will follow the lecture.
