When West Hollywood would not let black or Latinx queer people in, Dr. Jewel Thais Williams bought a club space in South LA intended to celebrate the communities. Jewel’s Catch One documents the oldest black-owned nightclub in the U.S., which became a safe place for both the LGBTQ and black communities during the 42 years it was open in LA. Directed by C. Fitz, 2017, 90 minutes.
