Cal State LA’s Pat Brown Institute to Host Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon's Inaugural Speaker’s Lecture Series

The Pat Brown Institute for Public Affairs at Cal State LA and the Center for California Studies at Sacramento State University present the inaugural event of the Speaker’s Lecture Series at Cal State LA on Sept. 8 from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the University-Student Union Theatre. Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon and Dr. Raphael J. Sonenshein, executive director for PBI, will take part in a discussion on “California Leading the Way,” which will be followed by questions from the audience.

Prior to serving in the Assembly in 2012, Rendon was an educator, nonprofit executive director, and environmental activist. He was the executive director for Plaza de la Raza Child Development Services, and served as interim executive director of the California League of Conservation Voters from 2008 to 2009. Rendon attended Cerritos Community College before earning a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from Cal State Fullerton. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of California, Riverside and completed post-doctoral work at Boston University. Rendon served as adjunct professor in the Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice at Cal State Fullerton from 2001 to 2008.  

The lecture will be preceded by welcoming remarks from Cal State LA President William A. Covino, and followed by a reception from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the University Club at Cal State LA.
