The Cal State LA Black Alumni Affinity Network was founded in 2018 to grow, sustain, and promote a thriving community of black students at Cal State LA, a premier comprehensive public university in Los Angeles. It is the energy, hard work, and passion of our students that inspires us to support and mentor our future alumni. As alumni, we value supporting students in higher education to continue with their personal and professional development. The Black Alumni Affinity Network exists to establish formal provisions to create opportunities that elevate our community through increased visibility, constructive programming, charitable initiatives, and fostered connections.
We are proud of your success and thank you for your support.
Alexandria is a freelance model, professional teacher, and San Francisco, California native. She graduated with her Bachelor's of Art degrees in 2018 as a double major in Psychology and African American Studies. Her community helped shape her into the driven, adaptable, and motivated person she is today. As she pays her beliefs forward, Alexandria is invested in her career with San Francisco Unified School District serving in multiple capacities including educator, mentor, and spirit squad coach. Alexandria plans to continue her education in an Interdisciplinary Studies graduate program with research around black women's cognitive development in impoverished communities and transgenerational trauma. As founder, Alexandria intends to build bridges among the black community and student clubs and organizations beyond Cal State LA. She understands that education is the vehicle that brought this group together and this network will continue enhancing opportunities, shared experiences, and personal growth.
Andre graduated with his Bachelor's of Art degree in Pan-African Studies. His goal was to get to college and build a network and community of people who want the best out of life. He is an entrepreneur, creative, and started his companies while attending Cal State LA. His motivation and determination is fueled by helping inspire others. As co-founder of the Black Alumni Affinity Network, he hopes to join other black alumni in continuing a network and community amongst one another and to also enrich the experience of other black students of Cal State LA. Andre grew up in Sacramento California, and decided at an early age that he wanted to be the person that makes a difference in the community. This drive follows him everyday and he uses it to guide him and his family into a successful life. Cal State LA's black community of students helped him find a home away from home that allowed him to go out into the world and confidently pursue his dreams. This alumni network is an extension of this community after college.
