INTERNATIONAL TEXTILE AND APPAREL ASSOCIATION
SPONSORS ART EXHIBIT AT CAL STATE L.A.
Los Angeles, October 3, 1995 -- The California State University presents Images: Art to Wear, an International Textile and Apparel Association (ITAA) juried exhibition, from October 16 to November 9, Monday through Thursday, from 12 noon to 5 p.m. Additional hours are scheduled for Friday, October 20, and Saturday, October 21, from 12 noon to 5 p.m. The premise of the show is to provide a venue for the expressive side of textile and apparel design and showcase this creativity. The public is invited to an opening reception for the designers on Wednesday, October 18, from 8 to 10 p.m.
The exhibition presents innovative compositions of palette, texture, and structure to address issues of three-dimensional design for the human form. As part of ITAA's annual meeting, entries were solicited internationally from ITAA's network of fashion designers, resulting in a show which consists of 35 creative and, at times, nonfunctional designs from 27 different artists. The breadth of the work ranges from woven plastics to a Bondage Wedding Dress by Eulanda Sander and Wendy Weiss, offering an unconventional perception of fashion design.
The Cal State L.A. Fine Arts Gallery is on the first floor of the Fine Arts Building. The University is located five miles east of the Los Angeles Civic Center at the interchange of the San Bernardino (10) and Long Beach (710) freeways.
