1997 DAVID L. KUBAL MEMORIAL LECTURE SERIES AT CAL STATE L.A.
What & Who:
The 1997 David L. Kubal Memorial Lecture Series at California
State University, Los Angeles will present "A Mirror
of the Times: The Times Literary Supplement in the 20th
Century" by Adolf Wood, literary editor of Times
Literary Supplement. Published in London for almost 100 years,
the Times Literary Supplement is the world's leading weekly
literary review. TLS is known for its extensive coverage
of current affairs, history, science, literature and the arts,
as well as the weekly listings giving full publication details
of some 15,000 books a year.
When:
Wednesday, January 22, 1997, 5 p.m.
Where:
Cal State L.A. campus, University-Student Union, Los Angeles
Room. The University is located at the Eastern Avenue exit,
San Bernardino (I-10) Freeway, at the interchange of 10 and 710
Freeways.

The lecture series, honoring the late David L. Kubal, a member
of the CSLA English Department faculty from 1968 to 1981, brings
distinguished literary critics to the campus. Past lecturers
have included noted scholar Mark Turner, prominent literary theorist
J. Hillis Miller, culture critic Geoffrey Hartman of Yale University,
note Renaissance scholar Don Wayne and Stanford's professor of
English Marjorie Perloff.
