Professional actors Maria Spassoff and Stuart Howard to perform in Cal State L.A.’s production of ‘Arcadia’

Tom Stoppard’s English play travels in time at CSULA’s State Playhouse Nov. 18-20

Los Angeles, CA –  Set in a country home in Derbyshire, England, Cal State L.A. production of “Arcadia” to offer a diverse two centuries of perspective on life at the University’s State Playhouse Nov. 18-20.

Based on the play by Tom Stoppard, the production traverses back and forth between 1809 and 2011 to provide a discourse on time, space, mathematics, chaos theory, history, academia, love and the fate of lives caught between what is discovered and what is lost over the continuum of time.

Directed by CSULA’s Professor Theresa Larkin, the performances are free to the public and will be presented Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. They will feature CSULA student performers Diego Di Giovanni, Caitlin McCown, Michael Nitzani, C. Maria Schmidt, and John Sanger.

Joining the CSULA production are Actors’ Equity Association members Maria Spassoff in the role of “Hannah Jarvis” and Stuart W. Howard in the role of “Bernard”; Michael Smith, guest scenic designer from A Noise Within and Cal Arts; William Liotta, guest lighting designer from University of New Mexico; and Audrey Eisner, guest costume designer from Pacific Resident Theatre Ensemble.

Additionally, the cast features student actors from the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA): Allison Andreas, Katie Basu, Sarah Bebb, Victoria Tamez, Sarah Bebb, Frankey Garcés, Albert Muzquiz, and Nikkolas Lopez.  LACHSA’s Lois Hunter is also serving as a guest choreographer and Christopher Fairbanks as a guest dialect/diction coach.
