The services offered by the Student Health Center services are governed by California State University (CSU) Executive Orders 943 and 1053. These orders set the parameters under which all CSU campuses provide medical and mental health services.
It is important to note that the care of certain illnesses, injuries, and conditions may require hospitalization or referral to other community medical facilities for after-hours care, long-term, specialty, or other care requiring staff, facilities, and equipment which are either not available to the Student Health Center or beyond the scope of authorized service. The patient, not the university, is financially responsible to the provider for health services received off campus and for health services received on campus but beyond the scope of authorized service.
Our primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants provide a wide variety of basic medical services to students. Many of these services are offered at no additional cost. The Student Health CenterÂs medical staff provides screening, diagnostic, and treatment services for:
- Cold and flu
- Family PACT services
- High cholesterol
- Psychiatric conditions
- Sexually transmitted infections
- Sports injuries
- Thyroid disease
- Urinary tract infections
- Other conditions
- Women's health issues
Lab Services cover a wide range of blood and other tests. Most tests are sent to an outside laboratory for analysis. Fees for outside laboratory tests are competitively priced and generally affordable. A number of in-house lab tests are performed on site and are offered to students at no additional cost.
The Student Health CenterÂs pharmacy is staffed by licensed pharmacists who are available to dispense medications prescribed by Student Health Center clinicians. In addition, some medications prescribed by outside clinicians may be filled (subject to availability). A variety of over-the-counter medications are available without prescription. Medications are provided at a reasonable cost. The pharmacists are also available to students for medication consultations. Prescriptions written by Center clinicians may be filled at any pharmacy.
Diagnostic x-rays are taken by the Student Health Center radiologic technologist upon the request of a clinician. All x-rays are then interpreted by a consulting radiologist. X-rays are provided at no additional cost.
