The Career Development Center provides support to groups and individuals so that they can make informed career choices and transitions, including helping to increase self-knowledge, find career information, make decisions about a career, and/or conduct a job search.
Our services are organized below as three basic steps in the career planning process. You can either start at the beginning and go through them in order or go directly to the step you want to learn more about.
Students who are fully matriculated and currently enrolled at Cal State LA and Cal State LA alumni are eligible to use all career center services on a space-available basis with priority given to students. Documentation of status will be requested at the time of service.

You are more likely to be satisfied with work when there is a good fit between your personal characteristics and the work tasks offered by the job. Knowing yourself and your career possibilities are important steps in career planning. The first step is to be sure of who you are and what you want from life, to build a career that's right for you. You should be aware of your interests, personality, skills, strengths and values, and have a process for evaluating and making decisions.
