What is Academic Coaching

Academic Coaching is a one-on-one interaction with a student focusing on strengths, goals, study skills, engagement, academic planning, and improving academic performance. It aims to help students stay on track during their first year (G.E.) Math and English classes through peer support and by applying useful skills to navigate and succeed in college.

We support and connect students with:

  • Student portal navigation
    • GET
    • Canvas
    • Navigate
    • Zoom
  • Academic success skills
    • Goal setting
    • Note taking
    • Test preparation
    • Time management

Hi! My name is Nayeli ("Nay" for short). I am a Chicana and first-generation college student. My bachelor's degree is in Sociology, from the University of California, Santa Barbara. I chose to be an Academic Coach because I am interested in an academic counseling career. I want to help college students identify their strengths, campus resources, and other lifestyle tools that they can use to help them succeed. Some of the things I enjoy doing include: photography, video editing, working out, traveling, going to concerts, and going to the movies.
