About the Office

The provost is Cal State L.A.’s chief academic officer, and responsible for administering the academic program in keeping with the University’s teaching and research mission.

The Office of the Provost oversees eight colleges, the University Library, and academic policies and activities university-wide.

The provost is an ex-officio member of the Academic Senate and chairs the University Strategic Planning and Coordinating Committee. She has direct oversight of all academic support units; holds divisional responsibility for the allocation of resources; and chairs the University Resource Allocation Advisory Committee.

The associate provost and the associate vice president, together with the provost’s administrative and operations staff, support the provost in carrying out these responsibilities.
