Teaching Interests

Anthony B. Austin has taught electronics for thirty four years. His teaching career includes junior high, high school and college electronics. Anthony also did stints with NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Ball Aerospace and owned his own business in electronic security systems.

Anthony began his electronics education in the seventh grade and continued it through high school and college. He received his Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology from California State University at Los Angeles and did his graduate study at California State University L.A. also. Tony did additional study in electronics at the University of California at Los Angeles, Los Angeles City College, and East Los Angeles College.

During the seventies Mr. Austin worked on projects at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory such as Mariner Mars, Venus/Mercury, Int'l Solar Polar Mission (Ulysses) and Voyager. His areas of specialty were Spacecraft Radio, Microelectronics, Radiometers and Magnetometers.

In 1980 Anthony joined the faculty at Cerritos College and has spearheaded its efforts in Robotics, Computer Integrated Manufacturing and Industrial Automation. Mr. Austin has researched Automation throughout the U.S., Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore.

When not studying or teaching, Anthony enjoys listening to jazz, sailing, scuba diving, reading History and traveling.

If you ask him what he enjoys the most about teaching, he will tell you it's the simplifying of abstract concepts for students that he enjoys so much.
