Recent/Current Research:

I am currently doing a literature review of current brain research on learning differences especially as it applies to science instruction and the use of technology in a classroom. I am also researching various literacy skills across the curriculum.

Courses Taught: List the names of courses you have taught, institution and dates where taught, and brief course descriptions.

Academic Decathlon - this class prepares students to compete in a competition featuring  10 different academic subjects including essay, speech, interview, Super Quiz, science, economics, language and literature, mathematics, art and  music. Each year new novels, art pieces and musical selections are selected around a theme. The Super Quiz topic rotates back and forth between a science and social science topic usually.

Environmental Science - this class is composed of predominantly college bound seniors who don't necessarily like science. It emphasizes an understanding of both the biotic and abiotic factors involved in ecology and environmental science and focuses on a few larger themes to which other topics are related. As an elective it is project and technology oriented to make it more fun and interesting for the students.

Integrated Science 2 - this class is traditionally filled with students who have had poor success in biology, are making the transition out of the ELD (English language development) program or who completed Integrated Science 1 the previous year. It combines topics in chemistry, biology, physics and earth science

Integrated Science 1 - this class is for our science oriented freshmen and our non college bound sophomores like Integrated Science 2 it combines topics in chemistry, biology, physics and earth science

Biology - a traditional biology class for college bound students. This class is composed of freshmen and sophomores

Eighth grade science - a middle school physical science class like integrated science in combines a variety of science fields

Seventh grade science and math - a traditional math curriculum partnered with 7th grade life science

Computers in Education - a course introducing various applications of technology in a classroom and instruction in specific applications

Introductory Teaching Methods - a course introducing potential teachers to learning theory and brain research, how to  read your audience, change states and make effective presentations, hot to write quizzes, lesson plans etc...
