Health & Well-Being

Mental Health

A scientific career is mentally demanding and tiring. As research students, our busy days are filled with difficult, tiresome classes, back-to-back meetings, and long hours in the laboratory and on the bench. It is important for practicing scientists to recognize the effect of stress on their mental health and to practice good habits to maintain their emotional, psychological, and social well-being.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at Cal State LA provides mental health services for your personal growth and psychological wellness.

Physical Health & Fitness

Likewise, sitting in a classroom or laboratory all day can have negative consequences on our bodies. The Xtreme Fitness Center at Cal State LA is a wonderful resource for current students to maintain and improve their physical health.
