About the Mobility Center

Mission

The Mobility Center is a service-learning-based therapeutic exercise program located on the campus of Cal State LA. Our students gain real-world, hands-on experience working with clients from our East Los Angeles community and beyond.  Our goal is to educate the next generation of rehabilitation professionals and provide low-cost exercise programs to people who lack access to traditional rehabilitation services.

How can I become a client?
For our individual exercise sessions, an initial evaluation will be performed by the faculty/staff. Clients are also required to obtain medical clearance before starting.  For our individual exercise sessions, students and faculty will work together to develop an exercise program that is tailored to the client.  For our older adult group exercise sessions, basic medical clearance is also needed.   For either program, signing a liability release is required. We have both forms available via hard copy or e-copy. We recommend an in-person visit before potential clients commit to either program.  Please contact us to arrange this.

How much does it cost to be a client?
Please contact us directly for current fees. We charge a small amount for an evaluation and low fees for exercise sessions. We can discuss sliding scale options on an individual basis. An older adults group exercise program is free of cost for eligible clients.

When is the Mobility Center open?
Individual client sessions currently run Mondays/Wednesdays from 11:30 AM - 12:45 PM and Tuesdays/Thursdays from 2:30 PM - 3:45 PM. Our older adults group exercise program runs Tuesdays/Thursdays from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM. Both programs run in synch with the Cal State LA academic calendar. This means that we close our doors during finals week, winter/spring/summer break, and to observe government holidays.  Please contact us for more information. Please see the current Cal State LA academic calendar to see when the campus is open.
