LSAMP (Louise Stroke Association for Minority Participation) is an organization committed to the professional and academic development of STEM students at CSULA. LSAMP is dedicated to addressing the needs of systemically and historically underserved students in STEM by providing information, support services, and direct resources that will support academic success and retention rates.
Why should you join the Student Advisory Council?
Its purpose is to integrate student voices and leadership in areas ranging from social activities, prioritizing academic resources, research opportunities to peer mentorship. There are several selected positions based on departments and creating a diverse group of students' voices but the structure is informal and anyone wishing to volunteer is welcome. Student stipends are available to student leaders at the end of the school year.
What we are looking for
LSAMP is meant to be a resource for underrepresented students in STEM as they navigate their professional/academic endeavors and achieve holistic wellness. We want students that want to work towards diversifying the STEM workforce and academia through implementing their ideas for professional development workshops, networking opportunities, and community outreach.
Student Leadership Committee Roles and Expectations:
- Attend planning meetings
- Facilitate or lead one campus event/ workshop/ SAC meeting
- Expected to join meetings with other STEM campus collaborators to represent LSAMP Student Leader voices.
