INTRODUCTION With a Ph.D. (Economics) degree from Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University, I have been teaching at Utica College of Syracuse University and University of Baltimore before coming to California State University, Los Angeles in 1987. I have had extensive experience in both government and quasi-government institutions. I was Chief Economist for the Ministry of Planning and Development of South Vietnam and was Principal Economist for the Regional Planning Association, New York City. I enjoy teaching at CSULA with its unique diverse body of students.
TEACHING INTERESTS My teaching has been primarily in macroeconomics, monetary theory & policy, mathematical economics, economic & business forecasting, business statistics and quantitative methods. My future teaching interests could be development economics and development planning. I pursue objectives that would enhance the quality of education and ensure that the students enjoy the learning experience. Students need to learn not only theories, techniques, and problem-solving methodologies to be productive workers and individuals, but they also need to learn to acquire knowledge on their own, particularly after they leave school in order to adapt and respond to fast changing technology. Education is a noble goal that goes beyond pure training of skills. Students ought to be trained to develop their talents endowed in human beings. One of the endowments is the intellect which should be developed to the fullest in its capacity to search for the truth.
