The John Gerro Real Estate Symposium was established with a generous contribution to the Finance, Law and Real Estate Department in the College of Business and Economics in order to expand student opportunities, to broaden understanding of the real estate market, and to engage our alumni, academic and professional constituencies. The Symposium will bring together some the region’s most highly regarded industry leaders to discuss emerging trends and critical topics in real estate and development.

 

Sponsorship Levels

The amount of your sponsorship payment that qualifies as a tax deduction is limited to the sponsorship payment minus the value of goods and services received. The value of goods and services received will be noted on the official acknowledgement letter sent out to each donor following receipt of your sponsorship payment.

Leslie Appleton-Young

Leslie Appleton-Young | Senior Vice President & Chief Economist, California Association of Realtors

Leslie Appleton-Young is Senior Vice President and Chief Economist for the CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® (C.A.R.). C.A.R. is a statewide trade organization with more than 200,000 members dedicated to the advancement of professionalism in real estate areas. Appleton-Young directs the activities of the Association's Member Information Team. She oversees analysis of housing market and brokerage industry trends, broker relations, and membership development activities. She is also closely involved in the Association's strategic planning efforts and is a well-known speaker in California’s real estate community. She currently serves on the State Controller’s Council of Economic Advisors and in 2017 was recognized as a Woman of Influence by HousingWire, a prestigious honor to high-achieving women across the U.S. housing economy.

Bruce Baltin

Bruce Baltin | Managing Director, CBRE Hotels Advisory | Capital Markets

Bruce Baltin is a Managing Director in the Los Angeles office of CBRE Hotels. CBRE Hotels, a part of CBRE, the World’s largest real estate services firm, is an international firm of management consultants, industry specialists, and appraisers who provide a full range of services to the hospitality, real estate, and tourism industries. Headquartered in San Francisco, the firm has offices in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC.

In his more than 45 years with the Firm, Mr. Baltin has had a wide diversity of experience in the Hospitality and Tourism industries including market demand studies, valuations, economic and operational consulting and dealing with leases, franchises and management contracts. His industry experience includes hotels, resorts, clubs, restaurants, theme parks, and national and state parks. He has worked extensively with various governmental entities in tourism and hospitality real estate issues.

 

 

Lance W. Taylor

Lance W. Taylor, CCIM | Director, EB Arrow

Lance W. Taylor works for EB Arrow, a Dallas, Texas based commercial real estate investment firm focused on mixed-use, multi-tenant and single-tenant retail properties located throughout the United States. He is a seasoned executive with a proven track record in acquisition, ownership, development and asset management/receivership across a broad spectrum of industry facets.

His 29 years in commercial real estate include experience with firms such as Goldman Sachs, JLL, Deutschebank and EB Arrow. He is currently completing the Burbank Town Center redevelopment, is responsible for the Paseo in Pasadena, Glendale Marketplace in Glendale and 5th at PCH in Huntington Beach.

 

 

Jack Cline

Jack R. Cline Jr. | Senior Vice President & Principal, Lee & Associates | Commerce

Jack R. Cline, Jr., along with his partners, has firsthand knowledge of the investment side of B quality buildings. He owns/has owned properties in partnerships exceeding 1,000,000 square feet of buildings. He has executed sales/leasebacks, leased investments, landlord and tenant representation assignments, land developments, build-to-suits, redevelopment agency work, eminent domain action defenses, foreclosure sales, short sales, bankruptcy sales, and partnership partitions. Jack has developed a strong working knowledge of environmental, legal, and tax matters affecting real property disposition.

His integrity has enabled him to work with brokers from all brokerage companies and agencies. Jack’s geographic focus has been industrial real estate from the Greater Los Angeles area to the Inland Empire for the last 30 years. He has extensive knowledge and experience working with specialized industries from textile, food processing, transportation, and logistics and has worked with most of the local Class B and C industrial property investors. Jack maintains a thriving, inbound referral business based on his long-term efforts in the market and the trust instilled in him by competing agents.

 

Nico Vilgiate

Nico M. Vilgiate | Executive Vice President, Colliers International Los Angeles

Nico is an Executive Vice President at Colliers International in Los Angeles. He was recruited and joined the firm in February 2013. Prior to this, Nico was a Senior Vice President in CBRE’s western regional headquarters in Los Angeles, representing tenants in the acquisition, leasing and owners in the disposition of commercial property. Nico has over twenty-five years of transactional experience encompassing over twenty-seven million square feet of space.

Prior to joining CBRE, Nico was recruited by Insignia/ESG, Inc. to open their Los Angeles offices. He was with them for five years before it was acquired by CBRE, Inc. Nico began his commercial real estate career in 1994 with Cushman Realty Corporation and was located in their headquarters office in downtown Los Angeles from 1994-1999.
