The majority of EEP alumni attend graduate schools, and are consistently admitted to top medical, law, and Ph.D. programs including Harvard, Yale, Stanford, UCLA, and UC Berkeley.
EEP participants are fully enrolled students in the University, so their tuition costs are set by the regular fees charged by the California State University (CSU) system. Parents/Legal Guardians should refer to the University Cost of Attendance page for current costs. The student is responsible for purchasing their own books and supplies and the cost estimate includes these expenses as well. The cost and management of transportation is the responsibility of each student/family. EEP students are not allowed to room on campus; EEP is a commuter program only, and all EEP students must live at home with family and supportive parents/legal guardians. As fully matriculated students, EEP students qualify for all academic scholarships and loans available to any college student. EEP students are encouraged to take summers off after they are admitted.

Our students do not receive a high school diploma. If a student successfully completes the EEP they will receive a Bachelor's degree. High school diplomas are not usually requested from our students; once a student has established a college transcript, most graduate/professional institutions and employers simply ask for that transcript.
Our students go on to graduate and professional schools all over the world, and also enter the workforce in a range of industries. It is not uncommon for students to take a year off to travel or participate in community service.
Students as young as 11 years of age may apply and they must be under the age of 16 by June 1st of the school year in which they apply.
EEP does not provide transportation to and from the University. It is the sole responsibility of parents/guardians to provide a mode of transportation for their students to attend courses at Cal State LA. Several of our EEP students use public transportation, such as the Metrolink train, busses, or are transported by a parent/guardian.
The EEP application is free. There is a fee for the Honors Academy, and students admitted to EEP and Cal State LA must pay university tuition and fees.
Students who complete the application and interview process and are not admitted to the Honors Academy, or who complete the Honors Academy and are not admitted to the EEP may reapply one time, so long as their age falls within the range of program requirements.
Yes, students are able to major/minor in any subject that Cal State LA offers. Please consult University guidelines on any attendance or unit limits.
Yes, international students may apply, but they will still need to participate in an interview and attend a Summer Honors Academy to be considered for admission.
EEP students cannot join the official university teams, but they are welcome to take courses that allow them to play sports such as soccer, baseball, softball, martial arts, and dance, to name a few.
