How do children learn about the world?
How do children recognize when to apply their old learning to new situations?
How do learners acquire abstract knowledge?
At the CSULA Learning Lab, we look to answer these and other important questions about learning and development. Through a variety of activities designed for young children, the Learning Lab examines how children acquire new information such as words, categories, relations, and dimensions. We also partner with schools and daycares in the Los Angeles area to examine how children learn about science and mathematics.
These studies are directed by Dr. Ji Y. Son and focus primarily on cognitive development.
