Janice Cordova Garden of Well-Being Student Art Contest

We are pleased to announce the Janice Cordova Garden of Well-Being Student Art Contest!

Students are invited to submit pieces of original artwork representing the natural world that convey some or all of the themes featured in the Janice Cordova Garden of Well-Being: Relaxation, Healing, and Transcendence. You can learn more about the themes on the garden website.

The winning artwork will be reproduced and displayed on the glass door and windows of the Student Health Center building adjacent to the center of the garden.

The deadline to submit the original, two-dimensional visual art pieces is Feb. 10, 2023. Please fill out the form below.

Submission Requirements

  • Entrants must be currently enrolled Cal State LA students.
  • Each submission must include the student artist’s name, title of the artwork, and a brief explanation of how the artwork addresses the theme or themes.
  • Entries will be reviewed based on artistic quality, representation of the natural world, and inclusion of one or more of the garden’s themes: Relaxation, Healing, and Transcendence.

Please provide a brief explanation of how the artwork addresses some or all of the themes featured in the Janice Cordova Garden of Well-Being: Relaxation, Healing, and Transcendence. You can learn more about the themes on the garden website.
Please upload your artwork submission using the file name format: last name_first name_CIN_art. If your entry is selected as a winner, you will be contacted to submit a high-resolution version for reproduction.
Files must be less than 2 MB.
Allowed file types: jpg jpeg png pdf.
We, the undersigned, represent that the contest entry, or entries, submitted is an original work of authorship personally created by the undersigned student to which the student is entitled copyright protection. In consideration for the acceptance of the contest entry, or entries, by California State University, Los Angeles (Cal State LA) in the WellBeingU Student Art Contest the undersigned grant Cal State LA, their employees and agents, the right to publicly display the entry, or entries, the right to reproduce the art entry for any non-commercial purpose, and the right to release the names of the winning entrant to the public. We, the undersigned, further release Cal State LA, and its employees and agents, from any and all liability for damage, loss, or misappropriation of the entry during and subsequent to the WellBeingU Student Art Contest. The undersigned further agrees to indemnify, and hold harmless Cal State LA, their employees and agents, against any and all claims of any nature whatsoever, including, but not limited to, claims of copyright infringement, by any party whatsoever, arising out of or in any way related to the submission of the entry in the competition.
