Degree-seeking graduate student in Departments compatible with Theatre and Dance. Graduate Assistants must be registered in a CSU graduate degree program and must be enrolled in courses towards the completion of that graduate degree during the appointment period. Applicants should possess strong oral and written communication skills, should have the ability to relate well to others within the academic environment, and demonstrate ability and/or interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment.
Exceptions to the minimum eligibility qualifications may be granted at the sole discretion of the University.
Demonstrated research skills and writing proficiency, as well as an ability to mentor undergraduate students, are preferred.
Students will be selected as Graduate assistants based on the quality of their academic performance, and their demonstrated ability or potential to work effectively and collegially with students, staff, and faculty.
Under the general supervision of the faculty member, the Graduate Assistant will provide assistance in the instruction of students by conducting small discussion groups related to large lecture course activities; assisting with handling equipment; and clarifying course material or course content for students. The GA will perform clerical or other routine tasks, including grading examinations; recording grades; assisting faculty with research and preparation of course materials; participating in the evaluation of students’ work; and other related tasks.
