Group study rooms

The library has group study rooms that each seat anywhere from 1 to 5 people and may be reserved by Cal State LA students, faculty, and staff for two hours per day up to 7 days in advance. Some rooms contain HD monitors you can plug your device into or a computer with an HD monitor, others contain whiteboards. These rooms are located on various levels of Library North and South.

Empty and unreserved rooms may be used, but make sure to reserve the room to prevent another group from reserving it. At least half of the capacity of your room needs to arrive within 15 minutes of your reservation or the room will be available to other groups.

Reservable spaces for graduate students

Cal State LA graduate students are encouraged to use the space and resources available to them in the Graduate Resource Center (GRC) for meetings, presentations, study groups, and other academic or professional needs. Reservations for GRC rooms should be made at least 24 hours in advance. Same-day and drop-in use of GRC rooms may be possible on a limited basis, and is not guaranteed.

To reserve a room, contact the Office of Graduate Studies by phone (323–343–3820) or email ([email protected]). Include your name, CIN, department, and how many people wish to use the room.

  • Library Innovation Hub (LIB A-119)
The University Library Innovation Hub houses a state of the art 84-inch Microsoft Surface Hub perfect for collaborative lectures, discussions, and presentations. Faculty and staff may reserve the experimental learning environment to hold events, workshops, and meetings, and faculty are welcome to use the space for one-time class lectures. This room is best for education-based events that are more interactive in nature. The space has glass walls that do not reach the ceiling and is visually accessible to surrounding patrons, therefore ambient noise may be of concern to those inside and adjacent to the room. Food and drink is not permitted in this area. The maximum capacity in this room is 39 seated. View pictures of the Innovation Hub space.

  • Library Community Room (LIB B-131)
The University Library Community Room can be reserved by faculty and staff providing education-based events, workshops, and meetings that are open to the Cal State LA community. The Community Room features a PC-based workstation ideal for presenting, as well as furniture that is easily adaptable to meet the needs of your event. Adjacent to the room is a 1000-square-foot patio available for use during your event, but please note use of this space does not increase the maximum capacity of the space. The maximum capacity in this room is 45 seated or 70 total.  View pictures of the Community Room space.
