Cal State L.A. - Educational Participation In Communities

Middle School Mentoring Program

The Middle School Mentoring Program is a new program that is based at Hollenbeck Middle School. In collaboration with serveral community agencies, EPIC provides coordination for CSULA students to serve as mentors/tutors to youth at risk from this middle school. These mentors will be responsible for tutoring, communicating, and planning for events that will help motivate their students in a wide variety of fields such as art, music, theatre, sports and education.

The objective of this program is to expose the students of CSULA and Hollenbeck Middle School to the community, the value of education (in promoting higher learning), and the importance of service. The program outcome will be the increase in student attendance and improvement in academics as well as a gained experience in the education field for the CSULA volunteers.
