Cal State L.A. - Educational Participation In Communities


Established in 1966, a dynamic and greatly needed program known as Educational Participation in Communities (EPIC) was created at California State University, Los Angeles for the purpose of promoting volunteer community service by university students and creating opportunities for them to implement classroom theory in real life situations.

  • EPIC is one of the oldest university based student volunteer/community service learning programs in the nation.
  • For the last 40 years, EPIC has placed students in a wide range of agencies serving a broad spectrum of communities throughout the Los Angeles area.
  • The EPIC program at California State University, Los Angeles has long been recognized as a national model for student led community service learning programs.
