Program Overview Highlights:
With this grant, the Title V Project paves
the way for Cal State L.A. to implement an Electronic Data
Interface System (EDI), allowing community college transfer
students to authorize electronic transmission of their
transcripts. This vehicle is a faster and more efficient form of
delivery for all those involved.
Currently, the Project works with Pasadena
City College (PCC) and East Los Angeles Community College (ELAC),
with plans to involve all Los Angeles City Community Colleges. In
the pilot program with ELAC, transfer students give permission for
their transcripts to be sent online to Cal State L.A. The receipt
of this data allows for quick access to the transcripts by campus
evaluators; hence, a more efficient evaluation process at
interface time with the in-coming students.
The goal is to transmit the transcripts in a
manner that allows for automatic evaluation of transfer credits,
by pairing the incoming classes and units with the corresponding
Cal State LA course, without intervention by an Evaluator.
The rollout of EDI is close to what is called
the production phase with preliminary rollout planned.
