CSULA’s two-day Commencement celebrates the academic achievements of 5,000+

After thousands of proud family members and friends converged on the University Stadium, more than 5,000 Cal State L.A. students were conferred their diplomas during the University’s 65th Commencement on June 15-16.

During the keynote speech on Saturday, June 16, U.S. Assistant Secretary for Postsecondary Education Eduardo M. Ochoa, who was recently named interim president of Cal State Monterey Bay, offered some words of wisdom to the Class of 2012. “…In this fascinating, ever-changing and dynamic world that we live in, you will be called on time and time again to reinvent yourself and draw on every previous experience, knowledge, skill and insight that you have acquired in your life,” said Ochoa. “[So] continue to look for new work and new personal experiences that require you to learn something new, and to stretch intellectually and emotionally. To fully utilize your capacities is the essence of a full, rich life.”
