Labor leader María Elena Durazo to be awarded Honorary Doctorate by the CSU Board of Trustees at Cal State L.A.’s 2014 Commencement

WHO:  María Elena Durazo, executive secretary-treasurer of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, will receive an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from the California State University (CSU) Board of Trustees at Cal State L.A.’s Commencement ceremony Saturday, June 14.

Durazo was elected in 2006 to serve as executive secretary-treasurer of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, which represents 600,000 working men and women. In 2010, she was re-elected to her second term with overwhelming delegate support, affirming her track record of energetic leadership and innovative growth in Los Angeles County’s labor movement. WHAT:  During a three-day festivity filled with pride and celebrations, Cal State L.A. will confer more than 5,000 bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees at this year’s Commencement exercises June 13-15.
