Cal State L.A. Experts Available
to Speak on Welfare Reform

California State University, Los Angeles professors in the School of Social Work (listed below) are available to speak to the media regarding the national agenda of welfare reform. With the 1996 welfare reform legislation to expire, the Congress must revisit this divisive issue. It has already been five years since Congress enacted “far-reaching changes” in the welfare system. Hearings on the reauthorization of the welfare reform legislation of 1996 have recently begun in the House subcommittees.

Neil Cohen
Professor of Social Work; Ph.D., Case Western Reserve University
Professor Cohen is an expert on child welfare, social welfare policy, homelessness, and social work administration. He has published Child Welfare: A Multicultural Focus, 2nd ed. (Allyn Bacon, 2000).

Dale Weaver
Assistant Professor, Social Work; Ph.D., UCLA
Professor Weaver specializes in welfare reform in higher education, and child welfare practice.
