Cal State L.A. Professor
Receives Manufacturing Educator
of the Year Award

Los Angeles, CA - November 3, 1998 - Neda Fabris, professor of Mechanical Engineering at Cal State L.A., was recently honored as the 1998 Manufacturing Educator of the Year by Desert Pacific Region 12 of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers at its annual meeting in Catalina Island.

The award was presented to Fabris for "distinguished contributions to industry, education, government and the engineering community with the introduction of dedicated, dynamic and innovative college engineering and engineering technology programs that impact the needs of industrial productivity and engineering innovation worldwide into the 21st century."

Professor Fabris received her Ph.D. from Illinois Institute of Technology. She is an expert in materials, manufacturing processes, automation and management of modern manufacturing enterprises. She has research experience in two European countries (Germany and Bosnia) and the United States. Fabris is also an accomplished speaker on engineering professions to engineering and non-engineering audiences. Before joining the Cal State L.A. faculty, Fabris was a member of the technical staff of Bell Telephone Laboratory in Illinois working on packaging electronic components and thermal and vibration analysis. Fabris is a Glendale resident.

At the same meeting, Fabris accepted a Distinguished Manufacturing Engineering and Technology Educational Achievements award on behalf of the faculty and administration of the School of Engineering and Technology at Cal State L.A. This award was granted for "distinguished academic contributions with the successful implementation of Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering Technology programs..."
