Los Angeles, November 15, 1995 -- The California State University (CSU) International Program recently selected 11 California State University, Los Angeles students to participate in the 1995-96 Study Abroad program. The program, accommodating a variety of majors, is offered in cooperation with 37 foreign universities from 16 countries around the globe.

Among the 11 Cal State L.A. students, seven have begun a course of study at the University of Florence, Italy, through the International Program. They are Los Angeles residents Stephanie S. Czayka, Theatre Arts major; Angelica Dela Torre, Business major; Roberta A. Estrada, English major; and Leticia S. Ortiz, Art major. Montebello resident Edgar D. Arena, Fine Arts major; Monterey Park resident Marvin L. Chang, Studio Art major; and Sierra Madre resident Maria-Lisa Flemington, Art major, were also selected this year to attend the University of Florence.

The other four students include: Los Angeles resident David B. Ramaya, Latin American Studies major, who is studying at Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico; Monterey Park resident Cathleen C. Okasaki, Japanese major, who is attending Waseda University, Japan; San Gabriel resident Rick Kuo, Social Science major, who was selected to study at National Chengchi University, Taiwan; and San Pedro resident Lizbeth Sanchez, Speech Communication major, who is studying at the University of Madrid, Spain.

Every year, the International Program offers students from each University in the CSU system the opportunity to continue their studies overseas for a full academic year while they remain co-enrolled at their home campus through the International Programs. International Program students earn resident credit for all academic work completed while abroad, and remain eligible to receive any form of financial aid (other than work-study) for which they can individually qualify.
