[View]: West Hollywood, a student video contest in support of new visual artists, is established through an educational partnership between the City of West Hollywood and Cal State L.A.

John Ramirez, Cal State L.A. communication studies professor, said, “West Hollywood provides this richly diverse student population the opportunity to access new avenues for their visual work and a chance to advance their career in the visual arts.”

According to the contest guidelines, video projects were required to employ the theme of “Viewing West Hollywood” and were limited to three minutes or less in duration. All full-time Cal State L.A. students were eligible to enter the contest, and participating students were recommended to register for TVF 499 for 4 units of credit. Students were encouraged to experiment with elements of digital production, light, and shape in their video projects. When screened on the Sunset Strip Videotron, the winning videos will be edited, looped and repeated in one-minute segments.

For more information on the contest, call Ramirez at 323-343-4200.
