Featuring the CSLA Golden Eagle Singers and the Los Angeles Gregorian Schola

The Golden Eagle Singers at California State University, Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Gregorian Schola present "Music of Marc-Antoine Charpentier and Chants for the Season." Conducted by William Wells Belan of Cal State L.A. and Robert M. Fowells of the L.A. Gregorian Schola.

The Los Angeles Gregorian Schola's performance will include such Gregorian chants as Alma Redemptoris Mater, Ecce virgo concipiet and O magnum mysterium.
The Golden Eagle Singers of Cal State L.A. will perform short works by Marc-Antoine Charpentier, along with his extended setting of the Ordinary for the Midnight Mass for Christmas (Messe de Minuit pour Noël). The smaller settings include: Gratias Tibi Deus; Laudate Dominum omnes gentes; Salve Regina from Motets à la Vierge no. 4; Laudate Dominum for three solo voices; and Petite Cantate de Noël.
As part of the Charpentier Midnight Mass, the Schola will also interpolate the chant propers. These include: Dominus dixit ad me, Tecum principium, Alleluia: Dominus Dixit, and Laetentur caeli. The Midnight Mass will be accompanied by an orchestra; the motets include continuo instruments as well as select concerted combinations.
General admission is $8 and student/senior tickets are $5 each.
